How I work

With warmth, compassion, humor and insight my goal is to help you grow from the challenges of life and move through difficulty with more resources and self confidence for when the bumps of life arise. I creatively weave together over eighteen years studying and practicing bodywork with my graduate level education in psychology to offer a unique path to understanding and embodying the complexity of the self. My passion for this work gets stronger and stronger as I see people shift and change in ways they had no idea they could. I am also continually inspired by new research and work being done in this exciting field and am always bringing what I learn to my clients so that the work we do is fresh and inspiring and leading edge.

My approach to therapy is much more than "just talking", instead together we build skills that you can bring with you outside of the office so that you can become your own therapist. The somatic psychology helps you bring a body awareness that allows the noticing of your own states and the choices you have to respond to them, as well as body based practices that have a much researched effect on the nervous system. Cognitive behavioral  therapy is one of the most used and most trusted ways to uncover the thoughts that are often unconsciously running the show and allows you to create more functional and kind ways of thinking of ourselves, our relationships and the world we live in.  EMDR is like a magic wand that can, with little talk but much presence rewire the neural network to take the charge out of triggering situations, help build and lock in beliefs of success and create a spaciousness that allows the pain of trauma to heal.

This work is for people that are ready and hungry for the exciting, satisfying and sometimes challenging work of change and want support and direction in the process. I create a safe place for you to practice new ways of engaging with yourself so that you can take these new patterns out in the world and live the life you have always wanted.

EMDR

Attachment Focused EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a revolutionary way of working that frees people from the charge and triggers of painful memories, disturbing bodily sensations, limiting beliefs and debilitating emotions that can come from challenging or traumatic events in ones life.

Somatic Psychotherapy

Somatic Therapy is distinguished by it's curiosity and focus on the body, it's sensations, wisdom and state as we look into your inner world and how you would like to grow and change. Engaging in how we embody ourselves allows a direct way to bring the unconscious to consciousness.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is the most widely researched and used evidence based psychotherapy for improving mental health. The way that we think about ourselves and  the world is the way that we perceive and understand ourselves and the world.
